Tripura’s National Level Handloom Expo Inaugurated in Guwahati

Guwahati, 12th of March, 2018: Tripura is rich in handloom and handicrafts and this national level expo will open up new opportunities for local artisans as well as the weavers. This was stated by Krishna Kamal Borah, Director, Handloom & Textiles, Govt of Assam inaugurating the National Level Handloom Expo, organized by the Directorate of Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture, Govt of Tripura under NERTPS- 2017-18, Guwahati today at the Khanapara Sports & Cultural Organization (Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium)- Ground (Opp to Directorate of Dairy Development) Khanapara, Guwahati-22.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by M.C Deka, Managing Director, ARTFED, Guwahati, Assam as the Guest of Honour. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Shri Ajit Debnath, (TCS), Joint Resident Commissioner, Tripura Bhawan, Guwahati, Assam. The Expo has been sponsored by the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
A total of around 90 stalls have been participating in the expo among which 28 stall are from Tripura, 40 from Assam and one each from J&K, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. The Handloom Expo will be held till 26th of March, 2018.
